Step 5: Share the Join Code or Download the Take-Home Letter
- Option 1: Click on the Class Join Code to copy it. You can then share this code directly with your students' parents via email, class communication apps, or any method you prefer.
- Option 2: Alternatively, download the printable take-home letter. This letter contains the Class Join Code and a QR code that parents can scan to join the class. You can hand this out to parents at school events, include it in your class syllabus, or even send it home in students' backpacks. Pro-tip: Print a few extra copies to keep on hand for new students throughout the year!
Step 6: Guide Parents on How to Join
Now that parents have the Class Join Code, it's important to guide them on how to access Reading.com:
- Use the Class Join Link or QR Code: Parents must use the link or QR code from the take-home letter to join the class.
- Create an Account: Parents should use their own email address to create an account and set up their child's profile. Note to Parents: If you have already created a Reading.com account, you will need to use a different email address from the one you used to create the new account.
- Download the Reading.com App: Finally, parents will need to download the Reading.com app and log in using their email address. They should select "Parent" as the account type.
